(Patria) - The number of unemployed in Germany in June increased by about four thousand compared to May, to 2.73 million, the Federal Employment Agency announced.
The unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5.8 percent. In the year-on-year comparison, there were 172,000 more unemployed people.
The number of people without jobs in June usually falls due to seasonal work. The trend has faded in recent years due to the pandemic and then the arrival of Ukrainian refugees, reports dpa.
This year, however, it is attributed exclusively to economic factors.
- The weakness of the labor market continues. Seasonally adjusted unemployment figures have noticeably increased in June. The economy is hesitant in creating jobs - said the agency's president, Andrea Nahles.
Consequently, the number of job openings is decreasing. The agency registered 701,000 job openings in June, which is about 69,000 fewer than last year.
