Netherlands promised F16 fighter jets to Ukraine

(Patria) - The Netherlands will begin sending F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine without delay, announced Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp during a visit to Kyiv.

Ukraine hopes that the advanced American-made aircraft will help it gain air superiority over Russia and better protect its troops and cities from daily bombings, writes AFP.

Veldkamp, appointed head of diplomacy last month, points out that the Netherlands is ready to send the planes after the necessary export licenses were granted last week, although he did not specify the delivery date for the 24 promised warplanes.

- Now that we have received approval for the first F-16s, they will be delivered without delay - Veldkamp said at a press conference in Kyiv on July 6.

Details of the trip were kept secret until July 7 for security reasons, reports RSE.
