Netherlands did not issue travel warnings for BiH due to political situation

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Embassy of the Netherlands in BiH confirmed to Patria that there are warnings related to travel to BiH concerning coronavirus. The last warning was published on November 10 and is still in effect.

"The color code for Bosnia and Herzegovina is orange. Travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina only if necessary. Travel to Bosnia and Herzegovina is possible, but keep in mind that there are entry restrictions. You must show a corona certificate when you return from Bosnia and Herzegovina," according to the official website of the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

A more detailed review of "security risks" lists risks of mines, robberies and pickpockets, natural disasters, earthquakes, and floods. These are security risks that most other European countries and the US also list.

Law professor Goran Šimić a few days ago published an email on his Twitter account that he received from a professor at one of the universities in the Netherlands, stating that the University will not cover travel expenses if these travels are not necessary.

The same email states that the number of media reports about tensions in BiH has increased, with an emphasis on the fact that the BiH entity of Republika Srpska wants to establish its own army.

However, it was clearly stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands has not made any negative decision or travel ban to BiH.

Šimić commented on that email with the words:

"If you still think that there is no possibility of new armed conflicts breaking out in BiH, look at the email I received. Everything will be clear to you," Šimić stated.
