NIP: Urgently find the attacker of the Memišević family, do not encourage violence

(Patria) - Police and judicial bodies must urgently find the persons responsible for the attack on the Memišević family, who were brutally beaten in Višegrad two nights ago, according to the reaction of People and Justice.

According to media information, the Memišević family, Fadil and Ajša, were attacked in their home by an unknown person and suffered serious bodily injuries.

“The attack on persons in their eighties, on the first day of Ramadan, has certainly disturbed not only the returnees in the Višegrad area but also the entire Bosnian-Herzegovinian public. We expect the police and judicial institutions to react urgently, find those responsible for this attack, and prosecute them,” stated the reaction of People and Justice.

Determining the motive for the attack and providing additional protection for returnees, who are often elderly people living alone, is a key task for the authorities, say People and Justice.

“We point out the importance of maintaining good neighborly relations and building a safe environment in which attacks on people and property will not be possible. At the same time, such attacks oblige, in addition to a prompt reaction, all actors in the public space to ensure that their statements or actions do not in any way incite, encourage, or justify any form of violence,” the statement from People and Justice concludes.
