(Patria) - Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić received today at the seat of the Government of the Federation of BiH in Sarajevo in an inaugural visit the Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Special Representative of the EU in BiH Luigi Soreca.
Along with expressions of welcome, the Federal Prime Minister wished a successful mandate to the newly appointed EU ambassador, and informed him about the priorities and reform processes of the Government of the Federation of BiH, which include fulfilling obligations on BiH's European path, investments and strengthening the economy, and fighting corruption. Prime Minister Nikšić stated that there is good momentum and atmosphere in the work of the Government of the Federation of BiH, and that decisions are made unanimously.
He also emphasized the particular importance of establishing special departments of the Federal Court and Prosecutor's Office related to the implementation of the Law on Combating Corruption and Organized Crime. He also said that the Government has undertaken all preparatory activities so that these departments can start working in December, and that the implementation of the staff selection process is currently up to the judicial bodies.
He also informed Ambassador Soreca about the priority of adopting a set of fiscal laws, which includes easing the burden on the economy, increasing the cost of labor, and combating the grey economy, and which should soon be on the agenda of the FBiH Government session, after which it will be sent to the parliamentary procedure.
Ambassador Soreca pointed out that he is already familiar with the situation in BiH, given that he worked at the European Commission during the introduction of the visa-free regime for our country and was involved in coordinating the implementation of these processes. He said he expects all levels of government in our country to complete their part of the task in order to make progress for the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of which is the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, which brings significant benefits to our country.
Reminding that BiH has made significant progress on the path to the EU, and that the decision of the European Council on opening accession negotiations for membership in the Union was crucial, Prime Minister Nikšić expressed his conviction that by continuing dedicated work and through compromise solutions, the remaining obligations on adopting the Growth Plan will be completed.
Ambassador Soreca conveyed that the EU Delegation and the Office of the Special Representative give full support to our country on the path of reforms and approximation to the European community, and Prime Minister Nikšić expressed his conviction in the continuation of successful cooperation, and that in the coming period there will be good news for our citizens in the process of fulfilling conditions and obligations on BiH's path to the EU.
