(Patria) - Nermin Nikšić, SDP representative, participated in the discussion on amendments to the Value Added Tax Law, which is being considered under an urgent legislative procedure at the proposal of Denis Bećirović.
“Regarding the VAT law proposal, I believe that, like all other measures, it has come too late. The measure states that in order to mitigate the negative effects of the crisis, the Council of Ministers can decide to postpone the VAT payment deadline. In this law, I particularly consider it problematic that, despite all conditions for the Parliament to convene, competencies are transferred to the Council of Ministers.
If the government in BiH functioned normally, this would be fine. I understand that colleague Bećirović is still acting as the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, but if we had a proper Council of Ministers, Bećirović would not need to propose this.
I consider it unfeasible that such a decision was not coordinated with the Indirect Taxation Authority, because it operates with an automated system there.
But, again, given this situation, it is better to try this way than to wait and not get it from the Council of Ministers. I hope this is just the first step to permanently regulate this system. We will support everything that is in the interest of businesses, regardless of being in opposition,” said Nikšić.
