Nikolić: The war in former Yugoslavia was initiated like the conflict in Syria

-Serbia was blamed for the wars in the former Yugoslavia in the 90s, which were staged and initiated in a similar way to the conflict in Syria, said Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić yesterday before the UN General Assembly, reports the Patria News Agency.

-A resolution was even recently submitted to the UN Security Council that would label Serbs as an example of a genocidal people. What kind of genocidal criminals are we? Do the recordings of refugees who, in the region, are not afraid or worried about the actions of the people or authorities only in Serbia, speak about us being genocidal criminals? Have the citizens of Serbia changed? No. The citizens of Serbia of all nationalities have always been, both then and now, humane people, good hosts, and good neighbors, said Nikolić.

He contributed to the topic of the refugee crisis, claiming that it is a consequence of the turmoil in Syria that has been ongoing for four years without an adequate response from the international community. He is also concerned about the humanitarian catastrophe that, he claims, awaits Europe if steps are not taken to resolve the problem, writes Al Jazeera.
