Nikolić wrote to Putin as well: The Balkans will be on the brink of a new war

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić sent a letter to Vladimir Putin in which he stated that the Balkans will be on the brink of war if the Srebrenica resolution is adopted, reports the Patria News Agency.

Belgrade's Politika states that Nikolić sent the letter to the Russian President during the preparation of the British resolution, which was ultimately not adopted by the UN Security Council because Russia, as expected, vetoed it.

Asking Putin to stop the resolution, Nikolić stated that, 'if only one, and specifically the Serbian people, is condemned for nothing less than the only genocide of global proportions, the efforts of Serbia and my own to live as good neighbours will be in vain'. In that case, 'the Balkans will be on the brink of a new war', Nikolić stated in the letter, which Belgrade's Politika obtained and B92 reported.

In addition to Putin, the Serbian President also wrote to the British Queen regarding London's initiative to adopt a Resolution on Srebrenica in the Security Council, requesting the withdrawal of that document.
