Nikki Haley in new book: They asked me to sabotage Trump

(Patria) – Former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley wrote in her new book that two senior White House officials encouraged her to sabotage President Donald Trump.

Haley claims that then-Chief of Staff John Kelly and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson asked her to resist some of Trump's requests, explaining that it was about 'saving the country'.

Tillerson declined to comment, and Kelly explained that he wanted the president to be fully informed:

"If by 'resist' and 'thwart' she means organizing the process by which the president is informed of the pros and cons of every decision he makes, and then making sure that he is informed, then I'm guilty," former Chief of Staff Kelly told CBS.

Trump supported the book via Twitter, invited Americans to the promotion, and said – 'Good luck, Nikki!'

In the new book titled 'With Due Respect', Nikki Haley writes that Kelly and Tillerson tried to explain to her that 'they are not disobedient but are trying to save the country', and that 'their decisions, not the president's, are in the best interest of the country'.

In an interview with CBS, Haley (47) said she rejected their requests, calling them 'dangerous' and 'insulting'.

"Instead of telling me, they should have told the president, not asked me to join their 'side' plan," Haley said, adding, "they should have told the president about their different views and resigned if they didn't like what he was doing. But sabotaging the president... that's a very dangerous thing and it's against the constitution, and against what the American people want. It was disturbing," Haley claims.

The former high-ranking US government official also spoke about disagreements with Trump regarding his relationship with Russian President Putin at the 2017 Helsinki summit, and called his comments after the 2017 Charlottesville white supremacist rally that there were good people 'on both sides' – 'harmful and dangerous', writes the British Guardian.

However, she emphasized that she supported a number of Trump's decisions that bothered others in the administration, such as the decision to withdraw the US from the nuclear deal with Iran, as well as the Paris Agreement on climate change.

In the same interview, Nikki Haley criticized Democrats' efforts to impeach the president, comparing impeachment to a 'death sentence for public officials'.
