They must never be forgotten: 3,176 white ribbons in memory of the murdered citizens of Prijedor

During the aggression on the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, 3,176 innocent civilians of non-Serb ethnicity were killed in Prijedor, including 102 children.

In memory of all the innocent victims and May 31, 1992, when the authorities of Prijedor, via radio, ordered the non-Serb population to display white ribbons on their arms and white sheets on their houses, a distribution of 3,176 white ribbons to the citizens of Sarajevo will be organized today starting at 12:15 PM in front of the Sarajevo Cathedral, along with a performance by the AntiDayton movement involving children from the "Fatima Gunić" Elementary School, reports the Patria news agency.

In front of the Cathedral, 52 school desks and 102 school chairs will be symbolically placed. After an improvised school bell over the loudspeaker, students will take their seats at the desks and wait for the lesson to begin.

After the second school bell, the teacher will symbolically begin calling out the names of the 102 murdered children of Prijedor. After each name is called, one of the children will stand up and leave the school desk, stepping to the side where a white ribbon will be tied around their arm.

After all the children have left the school desks, they will remain in a group for about 10 minutes to realistically depict, through their presence, the painful number of 102 murdered children. After 45 minutes, the school bell will ring again to signal the end of the lesson.

White Ribbon Day will be marked today in Prijedor, as well as in many other cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region.
