Germans interested in financing renewable energy production projects

Projects for financing and production of renewable energy that could be of interest to our country and the wider area of Sarajevo Canton were presented today at a meeting with Prime Minister Elmedin Konaković and ministers in the KS Government by the German company GET-AG, "German Environmental Technologies", one of the most innovative companies in this field.

GET shows particular interest here in the production of solar energy, but they also have realized projects in recycling, incineration of all types of waste, and obtaining electricity and gas from these processes. Roland Hensel from GET presented this offer in more detail.

- We are visiting your country and we see potential for solar energy production in Herzegovina, where there are many sunny days. The partners we work with have the funds for such projects and are interested in offering and building some facilities for the production of such energy in the countries of the region - he emphasized, but also added that long and extensive administrative procedures make the entire process and the final product more expensive than it is, for example, in Germany.

Sarajevo Canton is not a suitable climate for solar energy production, and our needs are focused on waste incineration and recycling projects.

The Minister of Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection, Čedomir Lukić, pointed out that our current interest is the treatment of waste at the city landfill, as well as the sludge that will accumulate when the water treatment plant in Butila is put back into operation. There is also a problem with the treatment of leachate at the City Landfill, which has not been fully resolved, and GET could provide a better solution than the current one.

Discussions on renewable energy production projects will continue, and as the Minister of Justice and Administration of KS, Mario Nenadić, stated, wherever we recognize mutual interest and where new jobs are created, everything will be done to ensure that administration is not an obstacle in the realization of such projects.
