Murder of Adnan Salčin remains unsolved after two years

The investigation into the murder of Adnan Salčin, son of war hero Ramiz Salčin, has been ongoing for almost two years, conducted by the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) under the supervision and by order of the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, reports the Patria News Agency.

Salčin was murdered at the intersection of X transferzala and Herman Gmeiner streets on March 2, 2015, around 4 PM. He stopped his Lancia car with Italian license plates before a pedestrian crossing, and another car stopped alongside his. The killer fired two shots at him, and he died at the scene from his wounds. 

The crime scene investigation was initially conducted by members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton and a prosecutor from the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office. However, the Federal Police Administration soon took over the investigation, followed by the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA). Just one month after the murder, the Federal Police Administration had operational information about a potential perpetrator or accomplice, identified by name and surname, who was a citizen of Serbia and was located in that country. To date, this individual has not been prosecuted, even though the official note from the Federal Police Administration was handed over to SIPA.

The Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office told the Patria agency that the investigation is ongoing and that they cannot provide further information.

- SIPA is working under the supervision and by order of the Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor's Office.

According to witness testimonies examined by SIPA, there were four people in the car that the killer used to stop next to Salčin's.
