Even a year after the attack in Zvornik, it is not known why Nerdin opened fire

On the anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Zvornik Police Station, in which police officer Dragan Đurić lost his life and attacker Nerdin Ibrić was also killed in an exchange of fire, the question arises why the surveillance footage has never been released and why the investigation led by the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina has not filled the gaps left from that day, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

In the same attack, two police officers were wounded, and the attacker was characterized as a member of Salafi circles.

As a well-informed source confirmed to Patria, footage from that day exists but is being hidden for some reason. According to one theory, Ibrić shouted „Allahu akbar“ as he entered the police station, while the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Mektić, said at the end of May last year that the information he had and which was presented to the Council of Ministers did not include such a claim.

The background of the attack carried out by Ibrić in Zvornik is far deeper than it initially seemed.

Namely, for months, someone had been convincing this young man that his father was killed during the attack of the Serbian army on Zvornik in 1992 by none other than police officer Đurić. It was previously confirmed that Ibrić's father was killed in Zvornik, along with dozens of Bosniak neighbors. It was also confirmed that police officer Đurić was on the list of suspects for the murders of Bosniaks in Srebrenica.

The question also remains whether someone exploited the young man's unstable personality and trauma to provoke an incident that left deep consequences.

Anniversary of the attack marked

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, Dragan Lukač, today unveiled a monument in front of the Zvornik Public Security Station to fallen members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska from the Birač region, which also features the likeness of police officer Dragan Đurić, although it was announced that it would be a monument only to Đurić.
