SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Amir Mujezin, representative of visually impaired and blind persons in Sarajevo Canton, a final-year student at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, NGO activist in the areas of life and professional needs of visually impaired and blind persons, recognized the principles and work of the Independent Bloc as a political organization in Bosnia and Herzegovina that thoroughly creates its proposals, initiatives, and demands, whose main task is to make the lives of all citizens of our country easier and better, according to a statement from the Independent Bloc.
"In Bosnia and Herzegovina, 'NO' must finally be said loudly and concretely to all forms of discrimination. Persons with disabilities, visually impaired and blind persons, are today, both through laws and infrastructural solutions, in a significantly worse position than conventions and international recommendations guarantee them, which significantly complicates their daily lives. In this regard, the Independent Bloc will initiate amendments to the Election Law in the BiH Parliament that will help and ensure access to the electoral process for this category of people, respecting the best practices we have in developed democratic countries," the statement said.
They add that, in addition to this, "the local community is the first pillar of democracy and the first instance for exercising rights, and precisely through this level, the Independent Bloc wants to actively and in a correct and realistic way create a set of feasible measures for each local community, in order to democratically ensure relief and equal status for such persons.".
"Novi Grad Sarajevo is the most populous municipality in our country, and the OO NB Novi Grad, at a recently held meeting, defined guidelines for the development of a quality Program that will address persons with disabilities, visually impaired and blind persons. The contours of this Program and the most prominent priorities, which include introducing the obligation of assistant jobs in local communities to support persons with disabilities, then the right of priority for these persons under equal conditions to participate in public calls and competitions, and other ideas, the expert team of the Independent Bloc, led by Amir Mujezin, will present to the public in the period that follows," said Senad Šepić, president of the Independent Bloc after the meeting with representatives of OO NB Novi Grad Sarajevo.
