SEVERE WEATHER IN THE US At least 11 killed in tornado strikes

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - At least 11 people have been killed in multiple tornado strikes in parts of the US Midwest, officials said today.

The storms tore the roof off a packed venue during a heavy metal concert in Illinois and devastated several small and large towns across the region.

Strong winds felled trees, power poles, lifted roofs, and collapsed walls. A wildfire broke out in the southern plains of the US Midwest, and a blizzard formed north of that area, AP reported.

Victims were registered in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, and the Little Rock area.

In Belvidere, Illinois, a tornado tore the roof off the Apollo Theater while 260 people were attending a heavy metal concert, killing one person and injuring 28, five of whom were seriously injured, officials said.

Lisa Powell Carter, a member of the Vina town council, said the town, about 80 kilometers west of Memphis, Tennessee, is without power and the roads are full of debris.

New storms formed just hours after President Joseph Biden visited the community of Rolling Fork, Mississippi, where parts of the town were destroyed in a tornado strike last week.
