Nevenka Tromp: Request for revision of the judgment has a chance to succeed

-This request for revision has a chance to succeed. This concerns an authoritative UN Court and that Court will be much more cautious in rejecting something that is not entirely complete. The Court will very likely say that not everything is in order, but since it concerns genocide, it will be approached differently', said Nevenka Tromp in the Pressing show on N1 television, Patria reports.

According to the opinion of the professor at the University of Amsterdam, who has experience working at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the topic of revision is interesting, but the Court should be allowed to do its job.

-That topic is interesting, but I would not like to make any assessments. There are several interpretations, but I would leave this to the Court. Can the request be rejected at the registry itself? Probably it can, I hope it will pass the first threshold. I think President Izetbegović's statement sounded very credible. They gathered all the facts in favor of Mr. Sakib Softić being an agent, but Serbia will probably also have strong arguments against that. That is why courts exist', Tromp said.

She added that everything that has been happening in recent days is actually a political discussion that has nothing to do with the Court's rules.

-When you work at a Court, you need to understand that this is a political discussion that has nothing to do with the rules of the Court in The Hague. Everything that President Ivanić and Minister Crnadak would write should be given to a legal team, that is, to Serbia's legal team. Every argument should be presented to the lawyers. The fact that it was waited for ten years is something that can have a very negative impact on the content of the submission.

If systematic work had been done since 2007, that submission could have been filed six months ago. The clock cannot be turned back and I think no one except that narrow team of people knows what is inside. If it happens that the revision is accepted by the Court, we will know everything. If it is rejected, we will not know how high or low quality that submission was, explained Professor Tromp.
