(Patria) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, stating there is a "crisis of confidence" between them.
Netanyahu stated in a statement that his confidence in Gallant has "eroded" in recent months.
"In the midst of war, more than ever, there is a need for full confidence between the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister. Unfortunately, although in the first months there was such confidence and much fruitful work, recently it has disappeared - Netanyahu stated.
He emphasizes that a "deep gap has been revealed between him and Gallant in leading the campaign".
- These gaps have been accompanied by statements and actions that contradict the decisions of the government and the cabinet - he clarified.
He also stated that he had "long tried to bridge this gap, but it was becoming deeper".
Gallant posted a short message on social network X, stating that Israel's security "was and always will be the mission of his life".
Minister of Foreign Affairs Israel Katz will succeed Gallant as Defense Minister, while Gideon Sa'ar will take over Katz's previous position.
