Netanyahu: There is no other solution but complete and final victory

(Patria) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu believes that total victory in Gaza is within reach. He rejected Hamas's latest ceasefire offer that would ensure the return of hostages who are still in the besieged enclave.

Netanyahu's response came after Hamas presented a set of demands in response to a ceasefire proposal supported by Israel.

Netanyahu assesses that negotiations with Hamas lead nowhere and describes their conditions as bizarre. However, the negotiators' talks continue.

- There is no other solution but complete and final victory. If Hamas survives in Gaza, the next massacre is only a matter of time - Netanyahu said at a press conference.

The Reuters news agency quoted a senior Hamas official as saying that Netanyahu's statements about the ceasefire proposal show that he intends to continue the conflict in the region.

- Hamas is ready to face all options - the official added.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken discussed the offer with Netanyahu, arriving in Israel after talks with the leaders of Qatar and Egypt, who acted as mediators.

Blinken later met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the city of Ramallah in the West Bank.

Israel had previously said it would not withdraw its soldiers from Gaza or end the war until Hamas was destroyed.

However, sources said that Hamas had changed its long-standing demand for an end to the war and is now proposing that this issue be resolved through future negotiations, rather than being a condition for a ceasefire agreement.

A source familiar with the negotiations said that Hamas, in its new offer, did not seek a guarantee of a permanent truce, but did seek an agreement on the end of the war before the release of all hostages.
