(Patria) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to take revenge on the Yemeni Houthis who hit Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv with a missile yesterday, which briefly interrupted air traffic.
"We targeted Ben Gurion Airport with a hypersonic ballistic missile that successfully hit its target," the Houthis announced.
- We have acted against them in the past and will act in the future. It won't be just one 'boom', there will be many - Netanyahu said before a meeting of the security cabinet.
The Israeli military confirmed that a missile hit the airport area. The missile fell only a few hundred meters from the main passenger terminal.
The military attempted to intercept it several times. According to an AFP photographer, the missile fell in an area where trees were planted, next to the road leading to the parking lot of the third terminal, the most important at the airport.
Six people were injured.
- This is the first time a missile has fallen so close to the terminal and runways - said a spokesperson for the Israel Airports Authority.
Hamas allies, the Houthis, have claimed responsibility for dozens of missile and drone attacks on Israel, including airports, since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip, but almost all have been intercepted.
