Serbian journalist Stefan Cvetković, who investigated the murder of Oliver Ivanović, goes missing

BELA CRKVA, (Patria) -  Journalist Stefan Cvetković from Bela Crkva went missing tonight, several sources from the town confirmed to Beta.

His car was found with the engine running. Witnesses said the car doors were open and Cvetković's wristwatch with a torn strap was found nearby.

The Beta agency tried to contact Cvetković, but all his known mobile phones were switched off, the Patria agency reports.

A Beta source said the police had been informed of the journalist's disappearance and that an intensive search was underway.

In recent years, Cvetković has repeatedly complained of threats from various political and tycoon power brokers.

On May 19 this year, he told the media that he had been detained for six hours at the Jarinje administrative crossing and stated that afterwards he received a document from the Kosovo police confirming that he had been held at a police station near the crossing for questioning on the orders of the special prosecutor leading the investigation into the murder of Kosovo politician Oliver Ivanović.

Cvetković then said he had gone to Kosovo for journalistic work, because, as he put it, he was working on investigating the murder of Oliver Ivanović.

"They had no other way to get to me, since they noticed that I had come into contact with some people who were of interest to their investigation," Cvetković told Beta after being released.

In February, he held a press conference in Belgrade titled "How much does a liquidation cost in northern Kosovo," where he also showed photographs of people allegedly involved in the liquidation of Oliver Ivanović and claimed that the assassination was paid for with 40,000 euros.

Last year, Cvetković was sentenced to more than two years in prison, a non-final verdict, based on complaints from certain officials of the Serbian Progressive Party.

MUP: Stefan Cvetković's car found, search launched

The Ministry of Interior (MUP) announced today that police in Bela Crkva last night found a parked car determined to be used by journalist Stefan Cvetković and that a search for him has been launched.

"The Bela Crkva police station was reported last night that a parked passenger car, a Polo, with the driver's door open and lights on, was located in Belgrade Street in Bela Crkva. Police officers immediately went to the scene, after which it was determined that the vehicle was used by journalist Stefan Cvetković and is owned by his father," the statement said.

As added, the competent prosecutor's office was immediately informed of the incident, and the police launched a search for Stefan Cvetković, who is being intensively sought.
