At least 15 people were killed in the crash of a Mi-8 transport helicopter in the Krasnoyarsk region of western Siberia, near the city of Igarka. There were 22 passengers and three crew members on board the helicopter, writes Patria.
Initial reports indicated that 12 passengers had died. However, local police reported that 15 people were killed, which was later confirmed by some Russian officials.
The helicopter suddenly crashed shortly after takeoff. The aircraft fell onto the Yenisei River and came to rest on the ice. Local police and residents are evacuating the injured passengers to the hospital in the city of Igarka.
