Accident at RMU Banovići: Body of deceased miner Nermin Šehić found

The body of miner Nermin Šehić, who was trapped in the Omazići mine of the Brown Coal Mine (RMU) Banovići at noon today, has been found. He is survived by his wife and two children. The body of the deceased miner will be transported to the Commemorative Center in Tuzla by order of the cantonal prosecutor. Rescue teams spent hours digging through the earth that had collapsed on the unfortunate miner.

The search for the body of the miner who remained buried in the Omazići mine of RMU Banovići is still ongoing. As confirmed by Ibrahim Lapandić, technical director at the Brown Coal Mine Banovići, the accident occurred at 12:00 PM.

- Around 12:00 PM, the roof collapsed while preparing to excavate a section for a mechanized face. Ten miners were working, and seeing the roof give way, they all managed to get out except for the machine operator who stayed behind and tried to save the machine. He could not get out in time, and it is uncertain what happened to him - Lapandić said.

An accident occurred in the Omazići mine of the Brown Coal Mine Banovići, in which one miner was buried. Rescue teams are on site, it was confirmed to Patria from RMU Banovići.

As we learned, a shift of miners was leaving the mine, and one of them returned to check something and got buried.

The accident happened at one of the preparatory sites. Excavating the amount of earth will take deep into the night, making the search for the body of the unfortunate miner difficult.
