Accident in Germany: Mother and Baby of Bosnian Origin Killed

(Patria) - A horrific traffic accident occurred on Saturday on the A3 motorway in Germany, between the towns of Velburg and Parsberg in Bavaria. A family car, in which the parents and their two young children were traveling, skidded off the road during heavy rainfall.

Unfortunately, the young mother and her baby died at the scene of the accident, while the father and a three-year-old girl survived and were taken to hospital. According to police, their condition is currently stable and they are not seriously injured. As local media report, the family is originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The accident happened due to extremely poor weather conditions, and investigators suspect it may have been caused by aquaplaning, i.e., loss of control of the vehicle due to accumulated water on the road.

Hannes Raithel, spokesman for the Red Cross of the Neumarkt district, said the situation was initially chaotic and a large number of emergency teams were dispatched to the scene. “When the first doctor arrived at the accident site, the car was severely damaged in a ditch. A police unit that happened to be nearby immediately came to help, along with several passers-by who tried to resuscitate the victims,” Raithel stated.

Unfortunately, despite the quick response, the mother and baby could not be saved. Jörg Zitzelsbeger, head of the motorway police in Parsberg, confirmed that the father and the girl are out of danger. “Given the circumstances, they are now relatively well,” Zitzelsbeger said.

Firefighters who took part in the rescue operation said the heavy rain further hampered their work. “Such rainfall is always a challenge for firefighters,” said commander Jürgen Kohl.

This tragedy has deeply shaken the community, and the news of the death of the young mother and baby originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina has caused great sorrow among their fellow citizens in the diaspora.
