Accident in Doboj: Rail vehicle killed a Željeznice RS worker

(Patria) - A Željeznice RS worker with initials D.M. (41) from Doboj died today when a work machine, which is a rail vehicle, driven by S.S. from Doboj, killed him at his workplace.

As stated by the Doboj Police Department, at around 8:40 AM, it was reported that a Željeznice RS worker died on the railway section Doboj - Bosanski Šamac, in the area of Grapska Gornja - Doboj city.

"Upon receiving the report, police officers from the Doboj 2 Police Station immediately acted and determined that a work machine - train, driven by S.S. from the Doboj city area, came into contact with pedestrian D.M. from the Doboj city area, who died as a result. Death was confirmed at the scene by employees of the Doboj Health Center," the police stated.

The investigation was carried out by police officers from the Doboj 2 Police Station in the presence of an occupational safety inspector, and was led by the duty prosecutor of the District Public Prosecutor's Office in Doboj.

Željeznice RS told Nezavisne novine that an extraordinary event occurred between the stations Srpska Kostajnica and Osječani, when a motor rail vehicle moving towards Bosanski Šamac hit a worker from the ETP Doboj section, Doboj division.

"The worker was conducting a patrol and visual inspection of the contact network," Željeznice RS stated.

They added that upon reporting the extraordinary event, members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of RS, the Emergency Medical Service, the prosecutor of the District Public Prosecutor's Office, as well as the Commission for Investigation, Inquiry, and Resolution of Extraordinary Events of Željeznice RS, arrived at the scene.

"After the completion of the investigation, regular train traffic between Srpska Kostajnica and Osječani was restored at 11:20 AM," Željeznice RS added.
