Accident near Sarajevo: Divers searching for car, bodies of victims being recovered

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Divers have arrived at the location where a vehicle carrying several people plunged into the Miljacka River today around 1 PM, and will proceed with recovering the bodies of the victims, Vesna Stokanović, spokesperson for the East Sarajevo Police Administration, confirmed to Patria agency. The accident occurred on the Pale-Sarajevo road. 

Stokanović said that the car is not visible in the water. 

Police officers, firefighters, the Mountain Rescue Service, and emergency medical services are on site, attempting to recover the bodies of the victims from the swollen river. 

Stokanović still has no official information on how many people were in the car and how many victims there are. According to current information, three victims have been recovered, whose bodies fell out of the car. Given that the car sank, it is possible that someone else is still in the vehicle. 

When asked if the operation would be suspended due to darkness, difficult terrain, and ongoing rain, Stokanović expressed hope that the bodies would be recovered before nightfall.
