Nelson and Field Await Oscars and BAFTAs for Jasmila Žbanić's Film

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – US Ambassador to BiH and the UK, Eric Nelson and Matthew Field, recorded a video congratulating Jasmila Žbanić, her husband Damir, and the entire crew of the film “Quo Vadis, Aida?” as they await the BAFTA and Oscar award ceremonies.

“Today we are here because we are celebrating the success of BiH director Jasmila Žbanić, producer Damir Ibrahimović, and their fantastic crew of Quo Vadis, Aida. The film and the director are nominated for two prestigious BAFTA awards: Best Film and Best Director,” said Field.

“I am very happy that this important film is attracting more and more attention every day. As Jasmila herself said, this is not a film about ‘guilt or revenge’. Its intention is to preserve the memory of this important and tragic event and to encourage dialogue about reconciliation,” said Nelson.

The ambassadors stated that only the acceptance of truth can lead to reconciliation, and Nelson added that he hopes April will be the month when the Oscar goes to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
