Several countries condemn Israel after hospital attack in Gaza

(Patria) - Several countries on Tuesday condemned the Israeli airstrike on Al Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, which killed at least 500 Palestinians according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.

Egypt condemned the attack and said the international community must intervene urgently to stop such violations.

The United Arab Emirates stated that they "strongly condemn" the Israeli attack on the hospital. The UAE called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and to ensure that civilians and civilian institutions are not targeted.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called the Israeli strike on the Gaza hospital "horrific and absolutely unacceptable." Trudeau told reporters that "it is not acceptable to hit a hospital".

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the attack on the Gaza hospital is "the latest example of Israeli attacks devoid of the most basic human values".

"The expansion of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip to hospitals, schools, and other residential areas is a dangerous escalation," the statement said.

Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs most strongly condemned the Israeli airstrike that killed and injured hundreds of "unarmed and helpless people".

Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Tuesday strongly condemning Israel's attack on the hospital in Gaza. The statement emphasized the need to provide international protection to the Palestinian people and called for urgent joint efforts to stop the war in Gaza.

France "firmly" condemned the deadly strike on the hospital in Gaza.

"International humanitarian law is binding on all and must ensure the protection of the civilian population. Humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip must be opened without delay," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he was horrified by the deaths of hundreds of people in the attack on the hospital in Gaza, Reuters reported.

"Hospitals and medical personnel are protected under international humanitarian law," Guterres wrote on X.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas declared three days of mourning following the deadly airstrike on the hospital in Gaza, Al Arabiya reported.
