Some features will no longer be free on Facebook and Instagram

(Patria) - Meta has announced new plans – Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus, and WhatsApp Plus – which bring additional features to each app. Additionally, paid subscriptions for Meta AI are being tested.

As reported by TechCrunch, Meta's product director, Naomi Gleit, announced these new offerings in a video.

Gleit did not go into details about pricing, but the TechCrunch report states that plans for individual Meta apps will cost between three and four dollars per month, while plans for artificial intelligence (AI) will be tested at a price of eight to 20 dollars per month.

Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus will cost four dollars per month in the US.

According to the report, these subscriptions will be intended for "advanced users" (so-called power users), allowing them more precise control over who sees which part of their content, as well as better insight into who their posts reach.

The WhatsApp Plus plan for three dollars is focused on "personalization and messaging," with additional themes, exclusive stickers, and more space for pinned conversations.

Meta AI gets subscription models

In Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia, Meta AI will begin testing plans called Meta One Plus and Meta One Premium next month.

These two plans, which will reportedly cost eight and 20 dollars per month in the US, apparently come with the same features, with the Premium option offering higher usage limits. Basic Meta AI features will remain free for now.

Later this week, Meta also plans to launch public testing for two more Meta One plans – Essential and Advanced – in certain markets outside the US.

These plans appear tailored to profiles looking to build influence (influencers), and include both verified status and exclusive features that help expand the audience, reports b92.
