Informal consultations on BiH at UN Security Council: Russia criticized OHR, France, Britain, US supported Schmidt's work

(Patria) - At the informal consultations held at the United Nations Security Council on Thursday evening regarding the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the work of the Office of the High Representative in BiH was supported. Member states did not come out with a joint conclusion or statement, Istraga.ba unofficially learns.

It is possible that Moscow will initiate an open session of the Security Council, especially if the situation in BiH deteriorates. The representative of Russia stated during his address that Milorad Dodik is traveling to Moscow soon.

The representative of Russia criticized the OHR, saying it lacks legitimacy, and that an institution with such powers resembles a colonial system. However, the French and British refused to make this the focus of the consultations, emphasizing that the topic is the actions of the RS President Milorad Dodik.

The Americans once again confirmed their commitment to the Dayton Peace Agreement and expressed support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, they supported the judicial institutions of BiH, as well as the use of the Bonn Powers.

In addition to Russia, representatives of Panama and Pakistan criticized the work of the OHR, but emphasized that they support the Dayton Peace Agreement. Most member states supported the work of the OHR.

Previously, Russia sent a request, at the suggestion of the BiH Presidency member Željka Cvijanović, to hold a UN Security Council session, which was rejected. In the end, an agreement was reached on a closed meeting of representatives of member states on the topic of the situation in BiH.
