Nefić: Eight Persons Arrested, Two Car Arson Cases Solved

In a comprehensive operation by the Ministry of Interior of the Sarajevo Canton (MUP KS) that began at 7 PM last night upon the order of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, eight persons were deprived of liberty, and six were handed over for processing to the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office, said Irfan Nefić, spokesperson for MUP KS, at a press conference, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

- Fifteen robberies on the territory of the Sarajevo Canton have been solved, as well as two car arsons in the municipality of Ilidža, which were committed prior to the thefts. Warrants have been issued for some by the competent courts - said Nefić.

After the car arsons, the same individuals also robbed a branch of BH Pošta and a commercial facility in Rakovica.

The arrested individuals committed criminal acts in the areas of the Sarajevo, Zenica-Doboj, Tuzla, and Herzegovina-Neretva cantons. Those arrested are: P.E., born in 1987 in Kakanj, residing in Sarajevo; A.B., born in 1993 in Zenica, where he resides; S.E., born in 1990 in Zenica, residing in Sarajevo; S.S., born in 1965 in Kakanj, residing in Sarajevo; S.A., born in 1992 in Zenica, residing in Sarajevo; T.E., born in 1994 in Germany, residing in Visoko; J.A., born in 1973 in Sarajevo, where he resides; and A.I., born in 1984 in Sarajevo, where he resides.

During searches at six locations, a submachine gun, an automatic rifle, two pistols, two vehicles, three tablets, balaclavas, lottery tickets from the Lottery of Bosnia and Herzegovina, clothing used during the robberies, marijuana, a certain amount of money, and several mobile phones and SIM cards were found.

- Additionally, 20 cases of livestock theft have been solved. All criminal acts were committed in the last two months - added Nefić.

Several of the arrested individuals have fully admitted direct participation in the commission of criminal acts, and police officers from the Zenica-Doboj, Tuzla, and Central Bosnia cantons have also joined the operation, documenting a total of 17 criminal acts so far.

On February 3, 2015, P.E., A.B., S.E., S.S., S.A., and T.E. were handed over, along with a report on the committed criminal acts, to the prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo.
