Sunday's fireworks from the Old Town Municipality were not reported to the police, there are no answers to media inquiries

The second preliminary results of the referendum for the recall of the municipal mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić were published today on the website of the Old Town Municipality. 3,750 voters voted for the recall, and 1,044 voters were against, announced the Commission for the Implementation of the Recall of the Municipal Mayor.

While the data on the referendum is being updated on the website, the municipal information service is not responding to media inquiries. We called the fixed-line phones around 3 PM and no one answered. We called the office of the acting mayor Mirsada Smajić as well as the Information Service.

We were interested in who organized the fireworks on Sunday evening from the roof of the Old Town Municipality, who paid for the fireworks, and whether it was reported to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton.

Since we did not receive an answer from the Municipality, we requested information from the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton.

As confirmed for Patria by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton, Mersiha Novalić, the fireworks from the Old Town Municipality building were not announced.

"The Police Administration of the Old Town is undertaking measures and actions within its jurisdiction regarding this," stated Novalić.

Otherwise, according to the Law on Misdemeanors against Public Order and Peace, the organizer is obliged to seek approval or report the use of pyrotechnics.

Even the municipal councilor Vedad Deljković, who initiated the recall of Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, did not know who the organizer of the fireworks was. At least, that's how he answered Patria's inquiry.

However, it is certain that the members of the Old Town Police Administration will determine all the circumstances of the unannounced fireworks celebrating Hadžibajrić's recall and will penalize those who used pyrotechnics in the heart of Sarajevo on Sunday evening.
