(Patria) - More than five million people have arrived from Ukraine and Donbas to Russia since the start of the "special military operation", said Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya at an informal meeting of the UN Security Council on the Arria formula, TASS agency reported.
"Since the beginning of the special military operation, Russian regions have received more than five million people from Ukraine and the republics of Donbas who voluntarily went to our country.
Among them are 730,000 children. The vast majority of these children arrived with their parents or other relatives.
Only 2,000 minors are from orphanages in the DPR (Donetsk Republic) and LPR (Lugansk Republic) who arrived with the directors and teachers of childcare centers," said Nebenzya.
Let us recall that Russia calls the invasion of Ukraine launched on February 24 last year a "special military operation".
