NB: The arrest of Asim Kamber is a good sign for the democratization of the electoral process in BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Independent Bloc reacted to the news of the arrest of SDA federal representative Asim Kamber.

Besides Kamber, Fazir Vukalić, Kamber's associate, and Mirela Husić, secretary of SDA Sanski Most, were arrested, and searches were conducted at four locations in this Krajina city, which indicates that the BiH Prosecutor's Office is acting against this trio as an organized group that committed theft and fraud during the election process, about which representatives of the Independent Bloc had previously spoken publicly. Everyone knows, and independent international observers have determined, that the electoral process in Bosnia and
Herzegovina is a sore point for a democratic society, and any form of struggle for a fairer, more honest, and legal system is something that the Independent Bloc strongly supports.

"The candidate of six opposition parties for the mayor of Sanski Most, the current Minister of Economy in the USK, Nijaz Kadirić (NB), says: 'Today's arrest is a good message to all those who steal in elections. It also shows how SDA functions, in which Kamber had a lot of influence in the USK region. We in Sanski Most have been publicly pointing out election fraud for years, and now we have lived to see the BiH Prosecutor's Office open a serious process. This is also another proof of how much the election legislation needs to be changed, especially in the technical sense, to introduce electronic voting, in order to have a more transparent process. Likewise, this is a strong message to the citizens of Sanski Most that there is a rule of law, that changes are possible, and that our youth can be retained.'"
