NATO concerned over increasingly intense Russian hybrid attacks in Europe

(Patria) - NATO members are "deeply concerned" about recent hybrid attacks on the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and the United Kingdom, which they attribute to Russia, the defence alliance announced.

"These incidents are part of an intensifying campaign of activities that Russia continues to carry out across the Euro-Atlantic area, including on the territories of member states through proxies," the statement said, as reported by Hina.

European security services have in recent weeks uncovered a series of activities they have labelled Russian espionage, including a spy network behind an internet media outlet discovered by Czech investigators, which prompted authorities in other countries to conduct inquiries.

European media also reported that a member of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) allegedly received funds from a pro-Russian media outlet, a claim the politician denied.

NATO members announced they would "continue to strengthen" resilience against such attacks and said they would use tools to "counter and disrupt Russian hybrid activity."

"Russian actions will not deter allies from continuing to support Ukraine," NATO said.
