NATO concerned about BiH, action to be redefined

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg spoke about the Western Balkans ahead of the summit of foreign ministers in Riga. Stoltenberg announced that Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina will be discussed. The discussion comes on NATO's agenda after pressure from London to discuss Milorad Dodik's moves.

"At the meeting of foreign ministers, on 30.11. and 1.12. in Riga, we will address the latest developments in the Western Balkans. The region is strategically important for NATO. They have come a long way since the conflicts of the nineties, but we have recently witnessed rising tensions. In Kosovo, NATO is working with EU diplomats to reduce border tensions and implement the recent agreement between Belgrade and Pristina," said Jens Stoltenberg.

He added that they strongly support a unified state structure and multi-ethnic armed forces in BiH.

"But we are also concerned about the inflammatory rhetoric from Republika Srpska. So we will discuss NATO's continued role in promoting stability and security in the region. Our colleagues from Finland and Sweden will join us in this session, as well as the EU High Representative Borrell, because we are stronger and more effective when we work together. Therefore, I look forward to the meeting of foreign ministers in Riga," said Stoltenberg.
