NATO issues new update for BiH: Reform Programme envisages cooperation

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Bosnia and Herzegovina strives to join NATO, is a new announcement on the NATO website, which represents an updated stance regarding NATO and Bosnia and Herzegovina, writes Patria.

“Support for democratic, institutional, security sector and defence reform are key focus areas of cooperation. The country actively supports the NATO-led mission in Afghanistan and cooperates with Allies and other partner countries in many other areas,” NATO stated.
The Reform Programme represents cooperation with NATO, according to the new update on the NATO website. The item on the ANP has been deleted, while it has been added that BiH continues its cooperation.

According to them, the country's cooperation with NATO is envisaged by the Bosnia and Herzegovina Reform Programme. 

“This reform programme outlines the reforms the government intends to undertake and facilitates NATO support for these efforts,” NATO stated.

They emphasize that BiH was invited to join the Membership Action Plan (MAP) back in 2010.

“Participation in MAP does not prejudge any decision on future membership. Bosnia and Herzegovina needs to continue implementing democratic and defence reforms to meet its NATO and EU goals and become a well-functioning independent democratic state,” NATO clarified.
