NATO Alliance Marks 70 Years of Existence

NATO foreign ministers will meet this week in Washington to mark the 70th anniversary of the organization's existence, writes Patria.

At a press conference held on Monday, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg presented the agenda for the conference, which will include, among other things, priority issues of the NATO alliance's relations with Russia, the alliance's role in the fight against terrorism, arms control, and many other current issues.

Stoltenberg announced that he plans to meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House before the two-day summit.

He also announced that the ministers will attend a joint session of the US Congress on Wednesday, and in the evening, the summit will move to the Mellon Auditorium, where the first 12 member states signed the North Atlantic Treaty back in 1949.

'This will be an opportunity to celebrate seven decades of peace and prosperity for our nations. It will also be an opportunity to look to the future together,' said the NATO Secretary General at a press conference in honor of the 70th anniversary of this alliance.
