DAMASCUS, (Patria) - NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg supported the military action of the USA, Great Britain, and France against the Syrian regime, assessing that it will reduce the ability for further chemical weapons attacks on the Syrian people, reports Al Jazeera.
- I support the actions of the United States, Great Britain, and France against the chemical weapons facilities and arsenal of the Syrian regime. This will reduce the regime's ability to further attack the Syrian people with chemical weapons - Stoltenberg stated.
NATO has consistently condemned Syria for continuing to use chemical weapons, thereby grossly violating international norms and agreements, he reminded.
The use of chemical weapons is unacceptable, and those responsible must be held accountable, according to the statement of the Alliance's Secretary General.
According to him, NATO considers the use of chemical weapons a threat to international peace and security and believes it is necessary to respect the Chemical Weapons Convention.
- This requires a joint and effective response from the international community - Stoltenberg's statement reads.
