NATO: Russia must fulfill INF Treaty obligations

(Patria) - After Russia signed a decree on withdrawing from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg today called on Moscow to fulfill its obligations under the aforementioned treaty.

During a meeting with a group of journalists at NATO headquarters in Brussels, Stoltenberg emphasized that the INF Treaty, signed in 1987, is one of the cornerstones of Euro-Atlantic security.

A statement from the Kremlin today stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree suspending the INF Treaty, which was signed between the Soviet Union and the United States of America.

On February 1, the US announced its withdrawal from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, concluded in 1987. A day later, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that his country was also withdrawing from the Treaty.
