NATO to provide Belgium with assistance in combating drones

(Patria) - NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte discussed drone incidents over Belgium with the country's Minister of Defence Theo Francken and promised the alliance's assistance in resolving them, the NATO press service reported last night, TASS reported.

"The NATO Secretary General spoke with Belgian Minister of Defence Theo Francken, who provided an update on recent drone sightings in Belgium. Allies are providing welcome support in addressing this challenge," the press service stated.

All three Belgian airports, in Brussels, Liège, and Charleroi, were closed for about two hours on the evening of November 4 after drones were spotted over their airspace.

According to Francken, unidentified drones were spotted over Florennes airbase, where recently delivered US F-35 fighter jets are stationed, and Kleine Brogel, where US tactical nuclear weapons are stored. On Thursday, as darkness fell, new reports of drones over military bases emerged.
