(Patria) – Protests in American cities over the murder of a member of the African American community in Minneapolis are not subsiding even after the police officer who killed him was charged.
Protest participants are ignoring the curfew, and unrest and chaos are spreading through major American cities like New York and Los Angeles, as well as smaller ones like Oregon, Richmond, and Virginia, where they last until the early morning hours.
As in previous days, protests on Saturday were mostly peaceful during the day, only to escalate into violence during the night.
Protesters clashed with police, police vehicles were set on fire, and break-ins into properties were also recorded. Media reports that such unrest has not been seen in the US for decades.

President Trump recognized the 'fear, anger, and pain' felt by many Americans over the death of G. Floyd, but condemned the 'anarchists and looters' who were among the protesters, blaming the Democratic mayor of Minneapolis for failing to bring the protests under control.
The mobilization of the National Guard failed to suppress the violence, although Minneapolis officials later confirmed that peace had been restored.
The anger manifested as violence was caused by the murder of a man of African American descent by a white police officer who pinned him to the ground with his knee on his neck and held him there for about 9 minutes while attempting to arrest him, until he died.
Officer Derek Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder, while other officers who were present at the scene were fired but cleared of all charges.
