Continuation of the stepmotherly treatment of JP Elektroprivreda BiH towards the residents of Tuzla Canton

(Patria) - The Cantonal Board of SDP BiH Tuzla condemns the Decision of the Management of Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. Sarajevo, by which it has suspended the supply of coal for general consumption to the Kreka Mine and by which it has ordered that the total quantity of produced coal be crushed and sent to the Tuzla Thermal Power Plant.

With this Decision, JP Elektroprivreda BiH has put the population of the most populous Canton in an unenviable situation and unable to procure basic fuel for the heating season.

Many categories of the most vulnerable residents, in accordance with the practice so far, procured coal on a deferred payment basis through citizens' associations, trade union organizations, and others; the supply of coal to them has been suspended, and it is not even known if they will use this facility in the future, which was a practice in the past.

Also, the Kreka Mine issued delivery notes for coal to its workers in lieu of compensation for severance pay and death of a close family member, in the equivalent amount of the compensation, which cannot be realized.

With the aforementioned Decision of the Management of Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. Sarajevo, the population of Tuzla Canton has been placed in a difficult situation, and an extremely difficult and uncertain heating season lies ahead of them.

This is another indication that the management of JP Elektroprivreda is degrading the citizens of Tuzla Canton, even though the director of that Public Enterprise is precisely from the TK region. Bearing in mind that TK is the energy and mining center of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, precisely thanks to the work of its inhabitants, we consider such a stepmotherly attitude of Elektroprivreda BiH towards the citizens of TK to be unacceptable.
