Continuation of "Damascus": Nedžad Mujić arrested for financing terrorism and stay in Syria

Police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (hereinafter: SIPA) this morning (August 16, 2016), acting on the order of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, in the area of Zvornik, in the place of Šepak, conducted searches at two locations and deprived of liberty a person with initials M.N. (1959).

The person with initials M.N. was deprived of liberty due to reasonable suspicion of having committed the criminal offense under Article 202 of the Criminal Code of BiH "Financing of Terrorist Activities" in conjunction with Article 202.d paragraph (2) of the Criminal Code of BiH "Organizing a Terrorist Group".

The deprived person will be brought to the official premises of SIPA, where a criminal investigation will be conducted, after which, in accordance with the instructions of the acting prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, a decision will be made on his further status.

By order of the prosecutor from the Terrorism Department of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, it was announced that Nedžad Mujić, born in 1959 in the place of Šepak, a citizen of BiH, has been arrested.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH and partner police and security agencies have gathered evidence that this suspect repeatedly stayed in the territory of Syria and returned to BiH, and he is suspected of being connected to the departures of BiH citizens to the territories of Syria and Iraq and joining ISIL structures.

The aforementioned suspect is under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and is suspected of having committed the criminal offense of financing terrorist activities in connection with the criminal offense of organizing a terrorist group.

The suspect will be interrogated, and the interrogation will be conducted by the head of the Terrorism Department, after which a decision will be made on further activities regarding the said suspect.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH, together with partner agencies, is undertaking intensive activities in the fight against terrorism and activities related to terrorism, especially regarding illegalities connected to the departures of BiH citizens to the battlefields of Syria and Iraq.
