CONTINUATION OF OPERATION FENIX Searches conducted at 18 locations in Sarajevo and a scrapyard in SBK

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In the continuation of the operational-tactical operation codenamed „Fenix“, police officers of the Federal Police Administration, in cooperation with the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton and under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, on 23.07.2020, continued coordinated activities in the area of Sarajevo Canton, with the aim of documenting and proving the commission of criminal offenses of „Association for the commission of criminal offenses“ under Article 340, in conjunction with criminal offenses of „Fraud“ under Article 294, „Forgery of documents“ under Article 373, “Embezzlement“ under Article 290, „Abuse of position or authority“ under Article 383 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As part of the aforementioned activities, based on an Order from the competent Court, searches were conducted today at 18 locations in the Sarajevo Canton area, during which documentation related to the commission of the above-mentioned criminal offenses was found and temporarily seized. Also, during today's searches, a certain amount of unidentified white powdery substance, which resembles the narcotic drug „Amphetamine“, a precision scale, and other items that can be linked to the commission of a criminal offense were found and temporarily seized.

As part of the "Fenix" operation, several motor vehicles that were the subject of the aforementioned criminal offenses were seized in the previous period, and other activities were undertaken to document a group of individuals who associated with each other for the purpose of committing criminal offenses and acquiring illegal property benefits, by previously clearly planning and preparing the procurement, import, transport, sale, leasing/crediting, and alienation of a certain number of motor vehicles. Also, on 14.07.2020, a scrapyard in the area of Central Bosnia Canton was searched, during which several motor vehicle chassis were found and seized, for which there are grounds to suspect that the numbers on them have been forged, as well as documentation for motor vehicles that can be linked to the commission of the subject criminal offenses.

Police officers of the Federal Police Administration and the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton will continue their work in the coming period.
