American magazine cover: Time bids farewell to Biden, welcomes Kamala Harris

(Patria) - American magazine Time has published a new cover after Joe Biden withdrew from the race for US President.

It is certain that Kamala Harris, Biden's current Vice President, will become the candidate. The renowned magazine has dedicated its cover to her.

How can Harris become a candidate?

As Democrats rally around Kamala Harris, much needs to happen before she is formally elected as the party's candidate for the November elections.

Biden had already secured 3896 delegates, far more than he needed to secure his party's nomination. But now that he has withdrawn, these delegates can effectively support whomever they wish.

It is up to them to choose a new candidate. They are expected to meet in Chicago at the party convention on August 19.

If the Democratic Party does not collectively decide to support a new candidate, the convention will be completely open with multiple contenders to be chosen by the party delegates.

To secure the party's nomination, a candidate needs to win at least 1976 delegate votes.
