Our Party: Acquittal of Ravna Gora Movement members is shameful

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Our Party reacted to the acquittal of the Ravna Gora Movement members, stating that the verdict against the members of the Ravna Gora Chetnik Movement is shameful.

"The current political context makes it extremely dangerous. Today, when the policy of secessionism is more alive than ever and when we know that the Ravna Gora members are its militant reserve part, this is also an answer that a part of the judicial system intends to support the dismantling of constitutionally guaranteed values. This verdict is particularly bad for returnees to RS who are most affected by reminders (and calls) of ethnic cleansing and genocide and who, due to threats of war, especially fear people who have been acquitted today. This is also support for all revisionist tendencies that attempt to rehabilitate the Chetnik movement from World War II. By denying historical facts and the victims of fascism, they try to push it among the anti-fascists. For us, Chetniks will remain fascists, period.

The judge who delivered the acquittal also violated the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, which clearly stipulates that all states that are its signatories condemn all propaganda and all organizations which are guided by ideas or theories based on the superiority of some race or group of persons of a certain color or certain ethnic origin, or which seek to justify or support any form of racial hatred or discrimination; they undertake to adopt without delay positive measures aimed at eliminating any incitement to such discrimination, or any act of discrimination.

As Our Party, we are nevertheless particularly proud of the fact that the entire process against the members of the Ravna Gora Chetnik Movement was initiated by Lejla Brčić during her term as Minister of Justice and Administration in the Government of Sarajevo Canton," stated Our Party.
