Unidentified armed attackers attacked a base of United Nations peacekeepers in the city of Kidal, in northern Mali, mission members from the base announced.
Residents of Kidal heard mortar fire during the attack on Saturday morning, witnesses told the news agency Reuters. According to CNN, several people were killed and about twenty were wounded. Two soldiers from Guinea and one civilian were killed. The contingent of soldiers from the Republic of Serbia is safe.
French soldiers and UN forces are making great efforts to stabilize the former French colony, where rebels attacked a hotel in the country's capital on November 20, killing 20 people.
