Attackers on Radio Sarajevo newsroom handed over to the KS Prosecutor's Office

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - A.Š. and A.B. were handed over to the KS Prosecutor's Office today, suspected of breaking into the newsroom of the portal Radio Sarajevo last night, where they held the portal's editor hostage and threatened him and his family members with death. The duo forced the editor to delete a text from the portal about a convicted fan of FK Sarajevo who was arrested in Belarus with cocaine. He was sentenced to five years in prison. 

Almir Šobović and Adnan Berbo forced an employee of Radio Sarajevo to call media newsrooms and demand that they retract the news about the convicted fan. The hostage crisis lasted two hours. 

After the case was reported to the Sarajevo police, with the help of the OSA, the suspects were located and very quickly arrested. They are charged with the criminal offenses of unlawful deprivation of liberty and endangering security under the provisions of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The break-in at the Radio Sarajevo newsroom was condemned by numerous embassies, institutions, journalist associations, media, and citizens. 

"The two suspects will be detained for the next 24 hours, after which a decision will be made on possible custody," said Azra Bavčić, spokesperson for the KS Prosecutor's Office.
