SHOOTER ARRESTED Shooting at Mercedes factory in Germany, two people killed

(Patria) - Two people were killed in a shooting that took place this morning at a Mercedes-Benz factory in southwestern Germany.

Local police first announced on Twitter that one person had died, while another was seriously injured. They added that there was no longer any danger to employees at the factory.

Police stated that it was not a case of amok, an uncontrolled outburst of rage in which a person attacks everyone around them, but rather an isolated use of a weapon.

The first calls to the police were received shortly before eight o'clock in the morning, and police operations are still ongoing, reports Hina.

Police were not immediately available for further comment, Reuters reports.

A person connected to the shooting has been arrested, and rescuers are on the scene at factory 56 in the town of Sindelfingen, in the state of Baden-Württemberg. Bild writes that the S-Class model is assembled in this factory.

It was later announced that a 53-year-old man entered the production hall and opened fire, shooting two 44-year-olds.

One of the victims died at the scene of the accident, and the other died later in the hospital. No one else was injured.

Security guards apprehended the suspect and handed him over to police officers who arrested him without resistance, police said.

The incident occurred around 7:45 AM local time.

"We are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic news from Sindelfingen this morning. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all colleagues on site," Mercedes-Benz said in a statement.
