
(Patria) - The suspect accused last week in Washington D.C. of shooting two National Guard members has been officially charged with murder and other crimes today, while appearing at his first hearing via video link from a hospital bed.
A judge in Washington D.C. ordered Rahmanullah Lakanwal to be held without bail, citing "immense horror" at the shooting that occurred a few blocks from the White House, which killed one National Guard member and seriously wounded her colleague.

Lakanwal, an Afghan national, traveled from the state of Washington to the U.S. capital to carry out the attack, prosecutors allege. He was wounded during the incident and remains hospitalized.
